For The Kids

Before our adoption day we asked family and friends to donate blankets and cuddly toys to be donated to our local DCS office, which would be given to kids as they are taken into foster care.  I followed the lead of a fellow blogger, a foster and adoptive mom whose blog I read.  Click HERE to see where I got the idea, and HERE to see how it turned out!

I've enjoyed reading her blog.  They are a family of eleven.  The following is copied from the 'profile' section of her blog:  "I am a SAHM of 9. Five born from my womb. Four born from my heart. All 9 from the Lord. 7 boys and 2 girls from 8 months to 18 years. Wife to a wonderful hubby for 20 years who is a big kid himself. We are walking a journey of faith, trusting our Lord as we recently finalized our adoption of four."  God bless her and her family.  Their story is amazing, and they've been through a lot.  Well, her idea about donating to future foster kids was such a good one, I thought there was no reason we couldn't do the same!  We ended up collecting 20 blankets and 25 stuffed animals.  I know this donation will be appreciated by DCS, and we're thankful to everybody who contributed to make it possible!

We'll be delivering this soft and cuddly lot to DCS very soon :)

It's Official

In our hearts we've been a family for a long time, but as of Friday morning we are legally, officially a family of four :)  It was wonderful having our families there with us to be a part of such an important moment in our lives.

Here are the first photos of us as an official family.  I should have been holding Peanut with his back to me so he would have been facing the camera more, but obviously I wasn't thinking about that at the time :)

We are honored and SO thankful that God chose us to be their parents!

Peanut is yanking on my necklace in this picture....he did that pretty much the whole time in court :)

Waiting to be called into the courtroom...

It's so nice to see her adorable smile in this one.

His eyes are closed, but we thought he looked so cute here.

The Night Before Adoption Day....

....and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except me and my spouse.  We're up at 10:30 looking for something to eat, but I wish I were snoozing instead of searching for some treat.  We didn't have dinner, too excited for chow;  tomorrow's the big day, I wish it was NOW.  Baby boy has been sick, big sis has been fine;  I'm wondering now about a big glass of wine.....will that help me sleep? or will it make my head pound?  I should stop rambling on, and not make a sound.  For right now here I sit with kitty Max by my side, and in a matter of hours I'll be bursting with pride!  Tonight I'm a foster mom, tomorrow I'll be more...  I'll soon be officially MOM, but I'll not forget all that happened before.  The heartache behind us that brought us to this, it's all SO worth it, for this feeling of BLISS!   We love our children with an unconditional love, and they are truly a GIFT from heaven above.  And so, on this Night Before Adoption Day, I think to myself and I will certainly pray..... I will pray for our new 'official' family's happiness, and for strength and guidance & a lot of good sense!!

(Well, I guess the moment struck me and I felt like rhyming.....and you know once you start a rhyme, you gotta keep going.  Oh well, it's a tad corny but it was fun.  Soon will be our day in the sun!!!  lol   Now I can't stop rhyming.  And it's getting even more corny.  Goodnight!  Sleep tight.  ha ha   couldn't resist that one.)

One Word...

Why is Peanut's highchair completely stripped down to the bare bones???  I'll give you ONE four syllable word for the answer:  D I A R R H E A ! ! ! ! ! ! !     AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peanut had his latest diaper "blowout" in his highchair, and when I went to pick him up..........I froze for a couple seconds as I looked at my fingers;  yep, my fingers got baptized in the nastiness that overflowed from his diaper.  I then proceeded to undress him, wipe off his back, carry him to the changing table, and clean him up as he kicked and screamed and cried.  He was happy when I plopped him in the tub..............and truthfully, this was probably the 10th bath I've had to give him in the past 4 days, not to mention the 'poopie' clothes I've washed....and keep washing.  He has been miserable at times, but he's also been quite happy at times too.  His appetite is getting better, so we're hopeful he'll be better soon.  I took him to the doctor 2 days ago - he gave me a Rx for a special cream for his poor sore red little bum  :(    It's helping a lot.

We all have to be at a meeting @ 9:10 tomorrow morning, and then we'll be in court to finalize both of the kids' adoptions.  I'll feel so bad if Peanut is still not feeling well.  We're hoping for the best.  Poor little Peanut...he's had a rough week for sure.

Peanut's Adoption

Mama's boy!!   :)

Mommy just can't get enough of me....

This is old news to some of you, even though it was new news just a couple days ago:  We recently found out that Ladybug and Peanut will share the same adoption day!!!  We couldn't be happier.

DaDa!

Peanut has been babbling more and more these days.  He says a lot of  "baba" and "gaga" and other gibberish throughout the day.  He also says "dada" a lot.  One day when hubby was mowing the lawn, he and Ladybug were standing at the window.  Peanut was saying "dadadada" and waving, smiling so big.

Halloween

Before the wig.....  i put the little black stocking cap on so the wig wouldn't make her head itch.

We had a fun time last night.  We trick or treated at my parents' house first, then drove back home and walked through our neighborhood.  Peanut was dressed up too and he rode in the stroller.  Our last stop was my sister and brother in law's house, where in addition to candy for the kids they had dinner and apple crisp for dessert!  Very tasty :)

We stuck the clown wig on his head for a few seconds, just long enough to get this priceless shot!!

 Talking to Grampa

At Gramma & Grampa's......of course Peanut liked to grab the wig!
